Heat recovery at Plastima

In almost every plastics processing plant waste heat is available in abundance: from the oil cooling of hydraulic units, from compressed air generation, from cooling water and from thermal processes. That heat is usually discharged to the outside air — and that costs money, because removing it takes energy too.

With the system technology of ONI you use energy you have already paid for not once, but two or three times. Plastima designs and supplies these installations and connects them to your existing cooling system.

Low-temperature heating modules

At the heart of the technology are heat exchangers developed by ONI that work with a heating water temperature of only 35 °C. In injection moulding that is exactly the temperature coming out of the hydraulic cooling circuit: around 30 °C flow, around 35 °C return. Despite that low temperature the modules heat production and storage halls or offices with an even temperature distribution. Integration into existing underfloor heating is also possible.

  • Purpose-developed heat exchangers for 35 °C heating water
  • Ranges of heating modules for halls, storage areas and offices
  • Can also be connected to underfloor heating
  • Heat sources: hydraulic oil cooling, cooling water, compressed air, thermal processes
  • Electric booster element for periods without process heat, for example during a shutdown
  • Very compact: little floor space, even at high capacities

What it delivers

For plastics processors, heat recovery is rarely a marginal saving. We have realised energy concepts in which no boiler installation was needed at all: 90% or more of the heat demand comes from machine and process heat, and only when there is no waste heat does an electric element step in. That saves not only fuel but also the investment in boilers, burners and flue systems — plus the floor area a boiler house takes up.

There is a double effect on top of that: the heat you use no longer has to be cooled away. The electricity driving the hydraulics is thus put to good use three times over.
